Background

The Malaysian government now requires non-professional foreign workers to attend an induction course on communication skills, Malaysian culture and laws. This new requirement would be implemented by March, 2004.

Non-professional foreign workers already in Malaysia will have to attend an intensive three-day (3) induction course on communication skills in English or Bahasa Malaysia, Malaysian culture, laws and regulations.

The cost of the induction course will be borne fully by employers. Foreign workers who successfully complete the induction course will receive a certificate from the National Vocational Training Council, Malaysia.
